Can I apply sensitivity labels to Power BI dashboards and tiles?
I’ve already labeled datasets and reports for data protection, but I’m unsure about the capability to do the same for dashboards and individual tiles. Is it possible to apply Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels directly to dashboards or their components within Power BI?

No, you cannot directly apply sensitivity labels to Power BI dashboards or individual tiles. Sensitivity labels in Power BI are currently supported only for datasets, reports, dataflows, and paginated reports.

However, if a dashboard contains tiles pinned from a labeled report, the label of the report influences the label of the dashboard. Specifically:

• If all tiles on a dashboard come from labeled reports or datasets, Power BI will automatically recommend applying a matching sensitivity label to the dashboard.

• If tiles originate from multiple sources with different labels, Power BI suggests a label that reflects the most restrictive classification.

• Ultimately, the dashboard itself must be manually labeled—you cannot label individual tiles.

So while direct labeling of tiles isn't possible, dashboards can inherit context from their components. For consistent protection, it’s recommended to:

• Apply labels to underlying reports and datasets.

• Accept or assign suggested labels to dashboards based on content sensitivity.

• Educate users on how sensitivity flows through Power BI artifacts.
